Better than expected!

Hotel Artefes is on a quiet residential street within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar. The staff all spoke adequate english and were very polite and professional. Our room was clean, tidy, and though not luxuious, it was nice. Bathrooms were clean and modern. The daily breakfast buffet allways had fresh food and drinks. Though the ambiance of the resturant had much to be desired, the food was reasonably priced and was better than average compared to other area resturants. Because we were there in November the rooftop terrace area was not open, we did goup there and I am sure in good weather it is very nice with views of the Marmara sea and the Blue Mosque. Overall, I would highly recomend the Hotel Artefes as a very good value and if I go back to Istanbul I would stay there again.

Traveler's tip on shopping
Merchant salesmen hang out at the local tourist attractions and pose as helpful locals in giving directions, advice etc. They are setting you up to try to get you to a their shops etc. You must walk away from them to avoid these ’hijacks’

Experience the Best of Istanbul

My daughter and I stayed at Artefes for 6

lovely days and truly enjoyed our experience

there. The courteous, caring staff is definitely a

key attribute of this nicely appointed small hotel

nestled in a neighborhood near key tourist

 attractions. They were most accomodating

and  willing to help us with arrangements for site

seeing, dinner, etc. The daily breakfast was

generous and delicious. Maid service was quite

adequate. All in all, we felt that  Artefes

helped to make our visit to Istanbul wonderful.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

1/2 day bus tour leaving from Sultanahmet Centre

is a great way to get your bearings in the city.

We enjoyed the 1/2 cruise of the Bosphorus to

the Black Sea as well as an afternoon at the

Turkish bath, which the hotel arranged for us.

 Istanbul is a gem!
